Apple and Nike Working Together Again

Although Nike discontinued its FuelBand tracker earlier this year, it’s still got a couple of ideas for new wearable tech, which will probably become a reality with Apple’s help.

Nike and Apple have created several products over the years that worked with Apple’s iPod (1st gen), iPhone, and iPad (2nd gen), so it’s only natural that these long-time partners would make something new – possibly a Nike+ app for the Apple Watch. With Tim Cook on the board of directors at Nike, anything’s possible.

“Technologically we can do things together that we couldn’t do independently. So yeah, that’s part of our plan, to expand the whole digital frontier in terms of wearables, and go from what we say is tens of millions of users – right now there’s 25 million Nike+ users – to hundreds of millions,” said Mark Parker, Nike’s CEO.

However, we probably won’t be seeing a new sportsband in the future, but a piece of tech that’s more “stealth”.

“I think the form it takes is critical. You can go from the very geeky kind of wearables today – we’ve all seen some of those – to what I think you’ll see in the future, things that are more stealth, more integrated, more stylish and more functional, yes,” Parker added.
