New Delhi: Non-resident Indians (NRIs) including Bengali diaspora carried out protests in more than 30 countries over the post-poll violence in West Bengal, demanding strong action by the government, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) state in-charge Amit Malviya said on Sunday.

He shared images of protesters carrying 'Hindu Lives Matter', 'Hindu genocide', 'Mamata Stop Hindu Killing, Stop Raping Hindus' placards on his Twitter handle.

"The post poll violence in Bengal under Mamata Banerjee's watch has brought global disrepute to West Bengal. There is massive protest across the globe. NRIs including Bengali diaspora across 50+ cities, spread over 30 countries and 5+ continents are demanding," Malviya tweeted.

On Saturday, Kailash Vijayvargiya met at BJP chief JP Nadda at his residence. He said that Nadda sought information regarding the violence in West Bengal. "I shared with him the same. He told us to prepare documentation of this violence. The government will take action against those who indulged in hooliganism," Vijayvargiya said.

Several parts of West Bengal reported violence after the results of the Assembly elections were declared on May 2. The BJP has alleged that nine of its party workers were killed in the post-poll violence. However, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is denying the allegations.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday alleged the BJP is not ready to accept the public mandate following the debacle in the election and asked why there is so much discrimination with the state.

"Why is there so much discrimination with Bengal? They sent the central team within 24 hours of oath-taking. Actually, they (BJP) are not ready to accept the public mandate. I never support violence. They are spreading fake news and fake videos," Banerjee said at the state Assembly, ANI reported.

"Election Commission needs immediate reforms. Bengal has a spine and it never bows. There was a conspiracy, all central ministers landed here. I don't know how many crores they spent on planes and hotels. Money was flowing like water here," she added.
