One of my biggest weaknesses (one of my many - see here, here and here to name a few), is Anthropologie. Not the study of humans and their culture but rather the retailer. The Anthro woman is cultured, unique, worldly. She likes to be bold and different. Perhaps even a little mysterious. I'm not sure if this is how I would define myself but the store just calls out to me every time I get the catalog in the mail or walk by the DIY windows. Even if I don't end up buying clothes, I end up buying dishes, lip balms, creams, perfumes, sunglasses, and hair accessories. Mostly because these are the only things that are affordable and can be purchased on a whim. In a bizarre way, the clothes, the store aesthetics, the furniture remind me of my grandmother and my great aunts. I think this is how Anthro gets me by reminding me of the "old world." I should also give credit to the merchandise. They carry really unique things that you can't just get your hands on at your local department store. Anywho, if you're part of their email list, you're also in luck (like me) because they also send the most adorable emails. And if you aren't, lucky you, I'm sharing the lovely note they sent this week (along with some commentary of course). Great wisdom...
These were in an email but they are worthy of being hung in your bedroom or office. I just want to print them poster size. Tres nice right?

Lately, I feel like I may have some kind of an allergy to wine. I'm ignoring the symptoms because how can anyone be allergic to wine. Oh gawd. The horror. Thankfully, I feel just perfect when I'm sipping Prosecco or sparklinganything. A new drink mix that I discovered/invented (ahem) isCassis Liquor with Perrier. So so so delicious and so so so lovely in a tall champagne glass. Try it next time you're looking for an alternative to Prosecco Best Gelato in Toronto can be found here at Il Gelatiere. Worth the long line ups in the summer. Personally, I love the combination of pistachio and chocolate. Mmmm. Mmmm. Good. If you're into making your own ice cream, then I highly recommend this pistachio gelato recipe from David Lebovitz. I'll repeat. Mmm. Mmm.

I could not agree more. There are two experiences in life that are borderline traumatizing and bring you to near-tears out of frustration. Shopping for jeans and swimsuits. Am I wrong ladies? Darn. Maybe I'm the only one near tears when shopping for jeans. Thankfully, I have survived the low-rise era! There is one place in Toronto however that is quite helpful when it comes to shopping for swimsuits. Melmira in north Toronto. My friend P. recommended this place years ago and I went before my honeymoon and snagged a lovely suit all thanks to the friendly and expert staff who find the right fit for your body type (and understand what we mean by "problem areas")If you're in the market, make a date with Melmira.

Red lips. Bold colours. Some women are so frightened by doing something slightly more daring than their usual make up routine. Ladies, you should be fearless. According to this, just about anyone can carry a red lipstick properly. Now, let me ask you, how do you feel about the two tone lipstick mania that may (or fingers crossed may not) catch on? Kudos to women who want to rock this look but personally, I'll stay away. You?

If you're new to George Eliot (aka Mary Ann Evans) then I highly reco Adam Bede. It is wonderful. I remember sneaking the book into math class in high school and reading it under the table because I just couldn't put it down. That explains why I absolutely suck at math. Anyway, you may also want to pick up a glossy in case you get bored. You can't go wrong with FLARE, FASHION or ELLE Canada but why not go digital and try Matchbook or Into the Gloss? There is nowhere better than the beach to read glossy mags.  Oh how I miss the beach...

If you haven't signed up for an Anthropologie card, don't wait. They are great with customer service and send you a treat on your birthday. Like this one. Enjoy!
