S.H.I.E.L.D.
My guys stuck with S.H.I.E.L.D. last night (and The Goldbergs, but one thing a time). Sure my husband had to point out that during the fight scene in the plane, where they blew a hole in the side, the vacuum effect would only last a few seconds, but other than that, again, we all seemed to enjoy the show. I personally would have been fine switching over to The Voice for a while, but how many shows do we all watch together? Not that many, so I sat through it all and actually had fun with it. Of course we all love Agent Colson, he's the funny one of the group, everyone else is pretty serious, but I guess they should be, they're saving the world from some crazy stuff that's out there. In this particular case it was a pretty powerful 0-8-4 found in Machu Pichu. (An 0-8-4 is an object of unknown origin for anyone that cares and while I don't, many geeks out there do. ) Lots of inside jokes and references to keep the Marvel geeks happy. Thor and his hammer were referenced (the hammer was also an 0-8-4) right before a sneak peek for the movie coming out soon. Agent May, it seems, is "The Cavalry" who after looking it up, was in The Avengers comic books. She can snap her own wrist and kick some serious butt when she needs to. Pretty impressive skills. Anyway, now Skye is on board the big plane with the rest of the gang, but we aren't sure if she's a good guy or a bad guy yet. There were tons of cool gadgets, which is my favorite part of the show, especially the screens where you can move the images around in the air. Is that coming soon, cause I'd be into that. Coolest Marvel reference of the night was a Samuel Jackson/Nick Fury cameo at the end of the episode. I guess he's still Colson's boss and he was PISSED about the hole in the plane and the fish tank, but it was a fun scene and a nice surprise. As long as my guys are into sitting on the couch together to watch...I'll be there with them. Sure I'd be into ANYTHING else, but S.H.I.E.L.D. is a mini movie every week, so I'm definitely not bored watching.
The Goldbergs
I seriously freak out watching The Goldbergs. All the little details are perfect. I'm pretty sure that The Goldbergs had the exact same cable box that I had back in the day. You know the one with the knob that clicked super loud.  OMG, they had that, they shopped at Gimbels for back to school clothes. Adam's Cavaricci's, Izod/Lacoste shirt and a dayglo jacket was perfect.  Bev was wearing my all time favorite sneakers, the white reebok hightops. OMG I want them again now so bad! I LOVED those sneakers. The Muppet Show lunchbox, Styx "Come Sail Away" and the best throwback to my time in my decade...the roller rink.  I was on Facebook during the episode trying to remember how I got to THE RINK in Bergenfield NJ every week to free skate in my EG Smith's. The family's funny to me and Erica looks just like Sixx from Blossom. I knew people like The Goldbergs.  (I still do actually).  A few of you guys don't love this one, and I completely understand not loving it. I think this is one show that you have to have lived through yourself to appreciate and I was lucky enough to have grown up in the decade of the Reebok hightop, the rhinestone jumpsuit and Steve Miller's "Abracadabra" at THE RINK in Bergenfield.
Trophy Wife
Now, Trophy Wife on the other hand, is just a sandwich show I can live with. I don't think it's hilarious, but at 9:30, with my DVR all cleaned out, I didn't turn the channel, I stayed put. Sure I played a few rounds of Candy Crush (level 165) and checked email and Facebook during this one, but I it's not one of those shows that you have to be 100% focused on. When I did focus on it though, I kept saying out loud "Doesn't Bert seem way too old to have all these sleeping issues?" I don't know if he's big for his age or not, but if the kids on a soccer team and still has all these nutty sleeping rituals every night, I would have been screaming at him to just go the F to bed, not read 42 books, count piggies, and be so scared of waking him that I'd be crawling on the ground like a soldier in Afghanistan.  That storyline was a bit stupid. I did think Marcia Gay Harden's salsa torture was hilarious and intend to use it if my son spills salsa on my couch and tries to hide it. Of course, I did have in issue with her renting LaBamba on DVD, but now I'm just getting nit picky right? I mean when's the last time any of you out there actually rented a real DVD in a box? Is it me?  Oh, I do have one more nit...If Kate wants to be respected by everyone in the family, maybe she should bag the WAY too short shorts? Not sure she can have her cake and eat it too with this bunch. Just sayin.
Sons of Anarchy
I really need to remember to watch Sons of Anarchy on DVR. Sitting through those ultra scary American Horror Story promos give me nightmares and freak me out. I'm not complaining at all, but last nights episode was an hour and a half. Was that mentioned anywhere? 11:30's late for me. Now I really need to remember to watch on DVR, could have been done this morning in 60 minutes. Okay...so were all of you guys as shocked and happy as I was when you saw Tiggs alive and well and at Jax's place at the crack of dawn? Jax was a bit shocked and Tara's just a bore now. Of course she didn't know what a big deal it was to have him alive and in her living room, but Jax did.  Apparently the Pope peeps were just testing Jax, but Tiggs' days are numbered, you know it. This week, in addition to the Irish, SAMCRO tracked down the Neo-Nazi's that messed with poor Wayne and the clubhouse. Wayne's life really sucks doesn't it? I mean he lives in a disgusting, broken down trailer, in a parking lot where Neo-Nazi's stop by to carve swastika's in his belly. He's got cancer, and is in love with Gemma, whose never going to love him back. I'd say that's a pretty sucky life wouldn't you? Eli, the chief of police, is such a good cop isn't he? He figured out that Toric was a bad guy in 10 seconds. I guess everyone knew he was, but with so much going on, who had time to focus on getting rid of him? Clay did and what a way to do it. I SO didn't see that ending coming! I figured Otto would kill Toric with the blade, but had no idea that he would get it too.  Honestly, it was time, I mean could we take another scene like last weeks? I couldn't. We did get a doozy though this week when the Irish cut the SAMCRO prospects into pieces. So let me ask you this...are you sort of liking Clay and hating Jax now? Not full fledged, I mean Clay's not the best looking guy in the world and I haven't forgotten all the crazy stuff he's done. Jax is super hot and wasn't wearing a shirt again which is always a good thing, but Clay's doing what he can to help the club while he's in prison and Jax is making a lot of big mistakes. The crew is dwindling down to nothing and he keeps putting them all at risk, but then again, if they didn't go "deal" with anything, they'd have nothing to do all day, so I guess it's just all part of a days work.
NEWS & INFORMATION:
-No surprise to me at all that NBC cancelled Camp. That show could have been SO good, but it sucked and was so disappointing to me that after one episode I was gone. Family camp? Come on. Summer camp's for kids, and with all of us parents who have kids that go every summer, we know that it's all the coming of age stuff, the friendships, the relationships, etc. that make camp such a special place. The show didn't even lose that, they never had it to begin with.  Who cares about the camps owners? OMG whoever ran this show had either never been to camp, or didn't hire people who did. This one had SO much potential. Okay...rant over.
-GAC, the country channel is rebranding itself if anyone cares. Instead of being known as GAC it will now be known as Great American Country with a new red logo and everything. Could you identify their old logo right now if I showed it to you? Bet ya couldn't.
-I'm actually pretty interested in the YouTube Music Awards. The brand new award show will be streamed globally on 11/3. Considering the fact that YouTube is the main destination for music videos these days and you can pretty much see first hand which ones are successful and which ones aren't this show will be way more relevant than the VMAS...look out MTV.
Wednesday's Trivia Question: Wendy McClendon-Covey plays Bev Goldberg in The Goldbergs but what was her characters name in Rules of Engagement?

For some reason, I'm having trouble updating the What I'm Watching section of my blog. I deleted it altogether until I can fix the issue, so...here's what I'm watching tonight:

Survivor
Back in the Game
Modern Family
Nashville
