Another Gun-advocate Dead, Shot in Head

Two days after John Novseke of www.NoveskeRifleworks.com, one of the most celebrated battle rifle manufacturers in America, was killed on January 4 in a single-car accident under mysterious circumstances, a second well-known representative of the firearms industry was found dead.

Initial reports said that on Jan. 6, 2013, 32-year-old Keith Ratliff, the producer of FPS Russia, a pro-gun and one of the most popular YouTube channels, was found tied up to a chair and shot in the back of the head in Franklin County, Georgia. Robbery did not appear to be the motive.

But Brandon of Liberty & Such writes that as more details emerge, one new fact seems to be that Ratliff was killed on a rural Georgia road, and not tied up in a office as earlier reported. He was armed at the time but somehow was not able to respond to the threat with his own firearms, which suggests that Ratliff knew the murderer.

WSBTV reports that authorities found multiple weapons at the scene of the crime, some manufactured by Ratliff himself. Investigators have not identified a motive.

In addition to his contributions to FPSRussia, Ratliff also worked for FPS Industries, a company specializing in “product development and testing for hard use firearms shooters,” according to its website. FPS Industries is located in Carnesville, Ga.

Ratliff was known as an outspoken gun advocate. In a message posted to Twitter on Aug 11, 2012, he wrote: “I went to the movies with my pistol in my pocket the whole time I was praying that somebody would try to pull a Batman!”

According to LiveLink, Ratliff’s body was discovered on a rural road in Carnesville, Georgia. Ratliff had a single gunshot wound the head and police are treating his death as a homicide.

Ratliff left a wife and a two-year-old son. His wife, Amanda, told a television station: “For him not to pull out that gun and try to defend himself, he had to feel comfortable around somebody. Either that or he was ambushed. You know, it just doesn’t really add up. ‘We all want to know and we all want justice to be done. He had way to much to look forward to in his life.”
