I first came acorss Annika Zee back in 2013 and was impressed by a string of demos that have since dissapeared from the web. The New York based multimedia artist has now reappeared with her latest single “Crazy”, the first cut from her new album Aging Aesthetics. As Annika explained to The Fader, the track is about how we “sometimes have to hide the intense edge of sincere emotion in order to not be perceived as ‘Crazy.’ It comforts, celebrates, and reclaims our right to feel.” This idea seeps through the music and perfectly captures something we’ve all probably racked our brains about in the past, making the track even more beautifully captivating. Her voice is at the forefront of it all, backed by minimal jazz-tinged guitar and subtle electronic ambience, which manages to really grab hold in it’s all-too-brief three minutes.
