Anne It Begins ...

I wouldn't be too shocked if Kimberly Anne was bored of the sight, sound or thought of me ... but here I am, writing once again about her and how bloody fantastic she and her music is. This time, I'm making sure I nip it in the bud early as I'm one of the first people ever to have heard her new EP, Bury It There.
If you've given her demos a listen on Soundcloud then you're very likely to have heard the likes of Bury It There, La La and Never Be Yours before, however, the latest versions of each are spectacular and subtly different in their approach, each offering new ways of enticing you all over again.
Bury It There offers a much fuller performance. More guitars have been added since the demo version, along with a drum beat, more backing vocals and echo effects to bring out its fullness. This is one of those tracks that you reckon you've heard before and, in turn, means that you can learn particularly easily ... it's a real pleaser and is the perfect choice for the title track.

Following the title track is La La, and it has gone through a relatively big change!! It's new persona has reminded me of Lianne La Havas because of the echoey presence it has. The fact that the main riff vocals, which literally give the whole foundation for the song, are not 'la la''s anymore completely threw me, but it works beautifully and the added backing vocals towards the middle/end make it complete and worthy of a place on your iTunes.
An ever slightly more subtle difference is in Never Be Yours, though, quite like the others I'd heard before, it has undergone a bit of a facelift. The added "ooh"'s at the beginning are sweetly received and the whole feel of the song is more solemn and heartfelt than ever. The vocal hasn't changed much at all int this one, but the guitar is much more powerful whilst still being the undercurrent for the song. Beautiful.

Kind Regards, one of the newer tracks, is instantly full of a much happier vibe, though the lyrics do follow Kimberly's solemn-blue suit. The constant shaking of what must be maracas, mixed with the faster pace and happy bass at the bottom really uplifts the mood and this track has a whole new lease of life that manages to fit right in with her other wonderful work. This woman is a true creator and everyone who I know to have heard her has said the same thing.
The finale comes in the form of Two's Company. A brand new track that hasn't been heard before, ever (How Exciting???). It calms back down but has an interestingly reminiscent past to it as though you know this one from years ago ... like Dido may have had a hit with it maybe? Anyway, this gloomy pop ballad sweeps past you with good intention and incredible effect!! The song making quality, as always, is definitely available in abundance, but the way in which it can move you is perfect for those days when you just need a sad song to listen to.
Unsurprisingly, Kimberly has offered one of the best (If not the best) EP's I've heard all year. Her poise and performances are proof enough that this woman can do wonders with her words ... I will be a follower for many, many years to com, if not until the very end!!
Paul.
