Anna Paquin’s Rogue, a critical character in Bryan Singer’s first two X-Men films had been left on the cutting room floor because of time constraints in the latest film and we were happy to learn that they would be return to the film, However,we never dreamed that there would be a whole new cut of the movie. But that’s exactly what’s happening in 2015 when we get the “Rogue Cut” of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Not only will the “Rogue Cut” restore Anna Paquin’s scenes to the movie, its special features will be different from the current Blu-ray/DVD release of the film. The news comes via 20th Century Fox’s executive vice president of home entertainment, James Finn’s Twitter account (which comes to us via Blastr). In answer to a fan’s query he promised that it’s a “distinct film” with “distinct extras” and that it’s “complimentary to the DOFP Blu-ray not repetitive.” As for a release window? “Summer 2015.”
X-Men: Days of Future Past is arguably the highlight of the franchise, and one of the best superhero films of recent years. It will be interesting to see how involved Bryan Singer is with the reconstruction of this version of the movie, as well. If nothing else, it should help feed X-Men cravings until X-Men: Apocalypse opens in 2016.
