Although notifications on your Android smartphone are a blessing, they can also get really annoying, really fast, because some apps think that it’s okay to spam you with promotional and other useless messages. If you don’t want to uninstall a certain app, Android Lollipop brings a couple of options that will help you manage all those unwanted notifications.
1. When a notification appears in your notification section, press and hold it for a moment. Press the “i” icon that appears to go to the notification page for that app. If you don’t want to wait for a notification to pop up, go to Settings > Sound & Notification > App Notifications. Every app you have on your phone is listed there, and you can use the Block option.
2. Enable Priority Interruptions Only. You can do this in Settings > Sound & Notification > Interruptions > When Notifications Arrive.
3. If your phone is secured by a PIN, pattern, or password, you can set your notifications to Sensitive. This way, the content of the notification won’t appear on your lock screen.
