Spelling Bee Championship
Again, not much on last night, these limbo weeks are tough ones, huh? I didn't realize the Spelling Bee was on until my son who only watches ESPN and MLB Network told me to come watch with him and then we were in to the end. That's what always happens. How do these kids know how to spell these crazy words? What does Dr. Bailey do all year long when he's not repeating the language of origin or using these nutty words in sentences. Why do the Bee officials insist on making the contestants where such enormous signs with their names on them? Who knew any of these words were even words? I don't think that sprachgefuhl, nixtamal, nunatak, myrmotherine, hippocrepiform paroemiology, scacchite pipsissewa, bruxellois, pyrrhuloxia, scherenschnitte, are ever used except by the Bee people and the Dictionary people. Have you ever heard of any of them? Do you know what any of them mean without going to Dictionary.com? Of course not but guess who does? Vanya and Gokul the new Scripps Spelling Bee Co-Champions. Sure they're probably both totally pissed that they have to share the fame and fortune with each other, but the Bee people ran out of words to stump these crazy kids. Our winners had an advantage though, they grew up having to spell their own names which is quite the undertaking: Vanya Shivahankar and Gokul Venkatachalam. With names like this…you have no choice but to become Spelling Bee contestants. Congrats to both winners. It was fun and odd to watch.
Lip Sync Battle
Last night's Lip Sync Battle, or as LL now calls it LSB, had Queen Latifah against Marlon Wayans.
Round 1 Marlon performed "Happy" complete with the Pharrell hat, and Queen did "Never Gonna Get It" by En Vogue. She killed. She didn't use a microphone and was clearly the winner. Marlon had a mic and while had some great moves, it was clear to me that he needed more practice time. Round 2,  Marlon performed "Stay with Me" by Sam Smith and was okay, but Queen did LL's song "Rock the Bell" and knocked it out of the park. I think Marlon was just being funny when he called Queen a cheater, but Queen didn't look like she was laughing. Awkwarddddd. Can't seem to find the clips though.

THE OTHER STUFF

-I know that NBC is looking everywhere for a Dorothy for The Wiz Live, but I reallllly think I know where they can find one. Over on ABC, on Black-ish, the girl that plays Zoey would be PERFECT. Of course no idea if Yara Shahidi the actress that plays her can sing, but she'd be perfect. I'm betting she can pull it off.
Friday's Trivia Question: Last day for couples/duos and partners. I'll name one half of the couple and you name the other:

1) Murray Goldberg &

2) Maddie Hayes &
3) Ross Geller &
4) Eric Taylor &
5) Mr Big &
