…. and I’m a Winner – the Collapsible Kettle

By Saltykisses @svprili

I don’t enter into a lot of competitions because I find my chances of winning pretty low and that my chances of receiving a zillion more junk emails pretty HIGH. But this time it just felt like fate. I had my eye on one of these babies for a while now but just couldn’t bring myself around to buying one considering that my little saucepan was keeping up with my tea demand.

I follow Nautical Scout (facebook) and a few weeks ago they posted a giveaway, all I had to do was share their link on my facebook page – no threat of spamming my email account. And can you believe it? I WON! They were extremely prompt on their shipping (to a State side address) and when we returned to Massachusetts for Christmas I was able to pick it up.

I wasn’t asked to review this product on my blog and I’m not getting paid to do so. One good turn deserves another.

The collapsible kettle from Nautical Scout.

The best little tea kettle around. She’s small, comes in funky colors and collapses. What more could you want? I had imagined it to be larger and was quite surprised with I opened up the box but her small size is a blessing. She holds two+ cups of tea perfectly. The spout is narrow making pouring hot water while underway very safe. I was worried that I was going to melt the silicone or handle with our propane stove but all is well. The handle does get hot and I have to remove it from the stove with pot holders but all my pots’ handles heat up.

So how do I make the perfect cup of boat tea? I fill up my lovely little collapsible tea kettle from Nautical Scout full of water. Heat her up on our propane stove. She’s very baby friendly without a whistle but the steam pumping out of her small spout is the tell tale sign that she’s ready. In the morning I make bread so I set aside a little hot water to add to the bread so my yeast can proof. The rest goes into my trusty tea cup, the only piece of breakable tableware we have on the boat and that is off limits to EVERYONE. I keep the remaining water in a thermos to be used for tea throughout the morning. I can not function without my morning tea.

The collapsible kettle holds 5 cups but I get roughly 3 cups of tea out of her, perfect for me. If you require more than that she’s quick to boil. I don’t know how I survived in the past without my trusty kettle. Thank you Nautical Scout, I really am a winner.

Check out Nautical Scout's website, they have a bunch of neat stuff on it. I would die for a few more collapsible items. They have steamers, pots, funnels, even collapsible pet bowls. They will definitely be my go to store for galley items, my little kettle is great quality. Check out their pillows too. I LOVE their jelly fish pillow and starfish pillow, so quirky and original.

Once again I was not paid for this post, when I find a great store with friendly service I like to share it.
