Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) has provided strange claims about iPhone to mid -decade. According to analysts, ‘technical challenges … and’ producer cost requirements’ will prevent Apple to introduce cameras facing the panels up to 2026 with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
However, Young believes that Apple will switch to the hardware of the Lower Panel’s face ID in 2024, starting with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. As shown by the image below, Young expects the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models to display cut out pills for facial ID hardware and secondary punch holes for the camera facing forward.
In comparison, Apple will not move the usual iPhone model to the display pills and punch holes to the iPhone 15 Series next year. In short, Apple will unite the display style throughout the iPhone 15 series and again in 2025 with the iPhone 17 Series.
Incidentally, this display style change will produce various sizes of panels between generations. That said, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be launched with a slightly larger display than its predecessor, also because of a slimmer bezel. The difference will be small, as shown by the comparison below:
