I’ve always been a huge fan of Scotland ever since my first ever wedding in the Scottish Highlands way back in 2010 (you can see that wedding film here). When Sarah called me I was instantly giddy with excitement. I was so pleased when she confirmed she wanted to book and spent the next few months chatting over email about all the lovely plans they had for their wedding day.

We enjoyed an amazingly relaxed journey from sunny Lancashire up to Aberdeen the night before the wedding and awoke to a traditional Scottish breakfast at the hotel. I was soon heading over to the coast to film Sarah and her girls getting ready and even helping out with making perfect bows on the flower girls dresses and even helping with her Uncles kilt…

The guys even got a little bit of help and my husband stepped in to iron shirts and show them a good trick to open a beer bottle without a bottle opener…

We were soon all arriving at Drum Castle (some a bit later than others so thank god the Bride was running a little late too) and guests packed in to the tiny little chapel to await the bridal party. The rain held back just enough to allow the bride to arrive in style in her vintage VW camper van before they made the short walk up the winding path to the chapel. The intimate ceremony was full of lovely moments, including a really sweet reading from one of their daughters before the couple were pronounced husband and wife to a rapturous applause.

Family group photos took place on the castle lawns as they enjoyed champagne and strawberries before Sarah and Doug headed up the castle tower to get some romantic photographs. Kris, the co-ordinator at Drum, informed us that they were the first bride and groom to be up there!

Guests were treated to the sound of bagpipes as they arrived at The Palm Court Hotel before they gathered around to cheer the arrival of the happy couple. Speeches were before the meal and had everyone in stitches, including us, though I’m not sure the Groom was too happy about all the stories the Best Men shared!

The happy couple were then invited to the dance floor to cut their cake and then enjoy their first dance as husband and wife before their band kicked off the evening with some classic rock tracks!
