Americans Strongly Support Aspects Of Our Democracy

The charts above are from a survey done by the Pew Research Center -- completed between February 7th and 12th of a random national sample of 1,503 adults, with a 2.9 point margin of error.
It shows that a substantial majority of Americans support the various aspects that make our democracy strong. That includes the aspect letting news organizations criticize our leaders. That goes against Trump's beliefs. He thinks news organizations should not criticize him (or his policies) -- and that it's OK to ban those news organizations that do so.
This is the belief of all age groups and most political groups. The only hold-outs are Republicans. Only 49% of Republicans thinks news organizations should be allowed to criticize our leaders. That's sad, and very troubling, since that is the party that controls the White House and both houses of Congress. Once again, the Republicans find themselves at odds with the beliefs of most Americans.
Note the chart below. Americans also strongly oppose giving the president more power (and that even includes a majority of 65% of Republicans).
