Amendment of the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance

Sri Lanka as a party of the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, has signed the Convention on 04.05.1979.

Cabinet approval was granted on 06.09.2016 to amend Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance No. 22 of 2009 to give effect to the provisions of that Convention locally.

Accordingly, the Attorney General has cleared the draft prepared by the legal draftsman.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Justice to publish the said bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter, present the same in Parliament.
