German company E-volo has developed a working prototype of a human carrying transportation device. Powered by sixteen electric propellers, E-volo Multicopter can take off and land like a helicopter. Simple joystick allows the pilot to control the aircraft.
At the end of October 2011, Thomas Senkel of E-volo had completed a series of unmanned tests and was ready for the first manned flight on an airstrip in the southwest of Germany. The flight lasted one minute and 30 seconds, after which the constructor and test pilot stated. "The flight characteristics are good nature. Without any steering input it would just hover there on the spot". This could be the future of flight, piloting a device as simple as a car.

About Helicopter
A helicopter (informally known as a "chopper") is a type of Rotorcraft in which lift and thrust are supplied by one or more engine-driven rotors. This allows the helicopter to take off and land vertically, to hover, and to fly forwards, backwards, and laterally. These attributes allow helicopters to be used in congested or isolated areas where fixed-wing aircraft would usually not be able to take off or land. The capability to efficiently hover for extended periods of time allows a helicopter to accomplish tasks that fixed-wing aircraft and other forms of vertical takeoff and landing aircraft cannot perform.
