Amaranth Flour Pumpkin Porridge for Babies

Amaranth isn’t a common kind of flour used in most homes, although it should! It is gluten free, easily digestible and rich in minerals and vitamins. It is also a rich source of iron and antioxidants. As with everything, it’s best to introduce your baby to healthy grains like this as early as possible, and this Amaranth flour pumpkin porridge is the best way for it.

Amaranth Flour Pumpkin Porridge for Babies

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of Amaranth flour
  • ¼ cup pumpkin puree (steamed and pureed)
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • Pinch of cinnamon powder

Method:

1. Heat ghee in a pan. Add the amaranth flour and roast on low flame for 1 minute.

2. Add ½ cup warm water and stir to avoid lumps.

3. Add pumpkin puree and mix well.

4. Cook the porridge for 2-3 minutes. Add more water if required to adjust the desired consistency.

5. Flavor the porridge with cinnamon powder and turn off the flame.

Serve the porridge warm.

This Amaranth flour pumpkin porridge can be easily made and flavored with any fruit or vegetable puree. You can introduce this to babies after 6 months of age. After all, it’s our responsibility as parents to introduce our babies to a lifestyle of healthy eating habits, and it’s never too early to start!
