I know a lot of folks have found Wardrobe Oxygen because I wrote about what's going on with eShakti. After sharing the sad news about that size-inclusive, custom-fit fashion brand, the biggest question I get is, are there any good alternatives to eShakti? Below I share the online companies I've found that offer custom-fit clothing and are also size-inclusive.

Alternatives to eShakti

So far, I have only tried one of the custom clothing companies I list below. I plan to try more in the next few months, and when I do, I will return to share my experience and if I recommend this made-to-measure women's retailer. And if you have tried any of the eShakti alternatives I list, please share your feedback in the comments to help this be a valuable resource for former eShakti customers or those looking for custom-fit apparel.

Indochino

Indochino has an online shop as well as 88 brick-and-mortar showrooms across North America where you can get custom suits, shirts, pants, blazers and outerwear to your exact measurements. Known for menswear, Indochino also creates such garments for and nonbinary individuals.

You choose a style, then customize with your preferred details, lining, and even monogramming. Then with a friend and Indochino's fitting guide, you provide your measurements. If the measurements don't look right, Indochino will reach out to ensure accuracy. Indochino garments are made-to-order and shipped in 2-3 weeks via DHL. The company offers free shipping on orders over $150 in the USA and Canada and over $165 in Australia.

Kit

Kit's goal is to create clothing that perfectly suits your style, needs, and figure. You shop like you would on any other website: by style. From there, you customize your garment: pick your ideal fabric (free swatches are available for order), choose details like hem length, and if you have any special requests. At this point, Kit may feel the most like an alternative to eShakti.

Here's the big difference though: you don't choose a size. Rather, you complete a fit profile that takes about two minutes when you check out. You can also submit measurements if you'd like, but that's totally optional. Also, 100% of Kit's garments are made in the USA.

It typically takes us about two weeks to create a garment, and then another week for shipping. Once you receive your garment, Kit will be in touch to check on the fit and to see if you require any alterations. Tailoring is included in the price of each garment, and any alterations or exchanges are always free of charge (including shipping for alterations).

Kit's selection is far smaller than eShakti's, and the prices are higher, but it is a smaller woman-owned company in Houston, Texas. Kit has been around for almost a decade, so it is a stable, organized eShakti alternative. Also, Kit will do fully custom with your fabric and specifications; check out their Instagram as they have done bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses and really unique pieces.

NorBlack NorWhite

If you've seen "Auntie" sweatshirts in your social media feed, that's from NorBlack NorWhite, a really unique company. Co-founders Amrit and Mriga grew up in Toronto, but moved to Bombay in 2010 to better understand where they came from and started the company. Using classic textiles, giving back to charities, and working as a studio with fairly paid staff, NorBlack Nor White (NBNW), now in Delhi (with two boutiques, one in L.A.), offers unique fashion not available anywhere else.

Items may come in size or be a free size, measured by shoulders. However, NBNW's collection is made to order, so they're happy to adjust measurements up to 6 inches for you at no additional cost. For alterations beyond 6 inches, there is an additional $15 cost to accommodate the usage of extra fabric. For any design/sizing changes that require NBNW to construct a new pattern, there is an additional $35 cost to account for the additional time and resources. Just email them, and they'll create the garment to fit you.

Pari Passu

Pari Passu began as a revolutionary plus size fashion company that offers its elevated apparel not just by size, but also by shape. Using data from thousands of plus size women's body scans for Boeing, Pari Passu realized the majority of plus size in this country have three different shapes in regard to hips, bust, rear, and torso. The three shapes along with sizes provides a close-to-custom fit.

However, this fall Pari Passu launched their Made-to-Measure evening wear collection where you can choose a style of elevated formal apparel and have it custom-made to your body as well as your tastes. And unlike Pari Passu's Ready to Wear collection, the Made-to-Measure collection can be created for every size of body.

As a 5'3″ size 14/16 woman over 40 with a large bust, full rear, and apron belly, it's near impossible to find apparel, let alone formalwear that fits my body. Yet with Pari Passu, I was able to create a gown that fits me to a tee. I got the Marilyn One-shoulder Gown but had it custom-designed in my favorite shade of orange. I felt this option made it easy to dress up and down for a beachside wedding or a formal gala.

Since this process is custom, and it's for evening wear, you need to contact Pari Passu for more information regarding price, time it takes to be crafted, and color/fabric options. But this is a brilliant and stylish option for Mother of the Married, galas and formal events, and special occasions like a milestone birthday or anniversary.

SeamsFriendly

Wish you could find custom-fitting high-quality plant-based natural fabrics from an ethical company? Check out SeamsFriendly, a company that offers custom-fitting clothing in their selection of classic pieces in natural fibers in styles for men, women, and children. Their focus is on durability, longevity, and practicality (hello pockets!).

SeamsFriendly has offered to have me try them for free. I am considering this dress, which I have always wanted, one similar, but my bust never fits, and maybe I'll try that will actually work with my curves. I have yet to go through the process, but once I do, I will come back to share my experience!

Sumissura

Sumissura is a company that has been on my radar for years and advertises itself as an alternative to eShakti. Initially known for creating custom suits online, Sumissura has extended its collection to offer dresses, shirts, tops, jeans, pants, skirts, and even outerwear and some footwear.

Shop by category or occasion, as you scroll you'll see more style offerings. Click on the style you like, and you will go to a screen where you can choose fabric, adjust details like lapels and sleeves, add personalization, and much more. Not sure what fabric you want? You can order fabric samples and the cost of them will be credited to your next order.

Sumissura reached out and offered me to try them for a custom outfit. I haven't heard back from them but when I do, I will be sure to come back and share my experience.

Thief&Bandit

Thief&Bandit started as a screenprinting company but over the past decade has grown and now offers made-to-order apparel. All fabric is printed by hand and garments are sewn by hand. With a commitment to sustainability, Thief&Bandit only uses organic textiles and non-toxic water-based acrylic paints. Any leftover material from the cutting process is saved and reintegrated into special projects or scrap bundles, minimizing waste and promoting creativity.

Thief&Bandit offers its collection in sizes XXS-4X, but each piece can be custom-made to your measurements. The clothing is simple in silhouette, but the prints are bold and beautiful. If you are familiar with the brand , Thief&Bandit feels like its sophisticated older sister.

Did I miss your favorite custom clothing retailer? Do share it in the comments. I expect this will be a working document updating as I try out these alternatives to eShakti, and find new companies who offer this service. Thank you to those in the Wardrobe Oxygen Community who informed me of many of these companies mentioned above!
