Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to delay the elections by 15 to 30 days, saying the complete scrutiny of nomination papers within the stipulated time.

While addressing to party workers telephonically on Friday, MQM chief said that delaying election for 15 to 30 days would not make any difference.

Altaf Hussain expressed strong concern over the questions being sked by returning officers from the candidates, saying the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-N candidate from Chakwal Ayaz Amir were rejected because he wrote a column on the ideology of Pakistan.

He said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Parliament should define ideology of Pakistan, adding unfortunately the ijtahad has been cursed here and every institution is attempting to show its supremacy over each other.

He said that asking the personal and odd and inconsequential questions, the returning officers are insulting the candidates.
