Six-member Australian band Alpine played their first ever show in New York City at the Mercury Lounge March 7. While snow fell outside, the Lounge filled up during the opening set by local outfit Lightyear. By the time Alpine hit the stage at 8 pm, the venue was more than three-quarters full. Featuring Phoebe Baker and Lou James on vocals, the band played an energetic 9-song set that included “Lovers,” “Too Safe,”  and “Seeing Red” before finishing with great versions of “Gasoline” and “Villages.”
