Aloft Hotel Calgary – Do I Dare Call This Love?

By Kenin Bassart @Constantramble

The word love isn’t one that I toss around lightly. I don’t spend a lot of time telling people that I “loved” this movie or really “loved” this new restaurant. It’s just not in my nature. I reserve the word for things that I hold in extremely high regard. Well, after staying at the Aloft Hotel in Calgary, I’m ready to pronounce that I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this hotel brand. It’s not just me that feels this way either: Zoe would tell you the same thing (if you could wake her up )

After staying at an Aloft Hotel in Miami and really enjoying it, and then visiting one in Baltimore and enjoying it even more, I thought my visit to the Aloft Hotel in Calgary would be a pretty good experience. It turned out being great!

The look and feel of the Aloft was similar to the others. It was hip, cool, and the styling was right up my alley.

They had a pretty sweet heated indoor pool, and the fitness center was quite nice.

Their WXYZ Bar was super cozy, and as a bonus they had two of my favorite breweries on tap. Also, make sure you try their nachos and lemon pepper chicken wings, they were both spot on.

The room was pretty cozy too. I’ve always appreciated the attention to detail at Aloft Hotels and the Calgary location was top notch. Their art choices are pretty snazzy and I really liked the skyline of Calgary over the bed.

Even though I really enjoyed everything about the hotel, there was still something more. Something that took this like and turned it into love. It wasn’t just one element of our visit that made me feel this way, it was something present throughout the entire visit. It was the people and the fact that they took the extra minute to get to know you and really make sure you were enjoying your stay. It wasn’t anything huge either, like they say, it’s the little things that count.

It was the fact that Zoe’s bed was all set up for us when we arrived in our room. It took her less than 2 minutes to find it and pass out.

It was the front desk staff (all of them!) that took the time to ask how I was doing every time I walked by. It was the bartender who took the time to recommend one of her favorite dishes when we ordered food. It was everyone, who understood, if you take an extra 30 seconds out of your day, you can truly make someone feel unique and special.

It’s all the little things added up that can make me say that I (and Zoe) have fallen in love with Aloft Hotels.
