Upon check-in, I was handed my Fingi device, basically a specially-configured Samsung smartphone that came with a dock and a charger. It took them only a minute or so to magically transmit my stay details into the device; then I was ready good to go!
The first magic the Fingi device did was in the elevator. I didn’t even have to do anything but to just put the phone onto where a keycard should be placed, and it just magically beeped to signal that the floor has been selected. Similarly, I just used the device to open my room’s door!
The second functionality of the device is to manage the room controls. What the touch device can control are the room’s lighting, air conditioning, and the do not disturb and make up room lights. It can even set the lights depending on one’s mood.
I stayed in a Breezy Room; it was the room that we’ve reviewed in the past. It’s young, hip, and urban cool, so I loved it a lot. Aloft description of it goes:

Staying in the room couple of nights allowed me to try out what other things the Fingi device could do. Interesting how it could not only control the huge TV but also list down the channels.
It also enumerates the services, facilities, bars, and restaurants the hotel offers, and it provides information about the locale. If anything’s needed, whether one’s in or out of the hotel, it has a Quickdial function to the hotel’s Anything Anytime service and to the concierge.
As it is a smartphone after all, it can be brought out of the hotel and serve as a free wi-fi hotspot, therefore eliminating the need for mobile data roaming or a local SIM card. The phone’s browser, camera, and alarm clock can likewise be used.
For a few hundred baht, the upgrade to a Touch Room at Aloft Bangkok – Sukhumvit 11 is surely worth the money. Not only is the Fingi technology cool, but it also adds convenience. Besides, with only a few hotels in the world that use a device like that, why miss out?
