Candidiasis is a fungus infection caused by the Candida yeast (a type of fungus). Candida albicans is the most prevalent Candida species that can cause infection in humans. Candida may survive on the skin and inside the body, in locations including the mouth, throat, gut, and vaginal canal, without creating difficulties. If Candida gets out of hand or gets deep into the body, it can cause illnesses (for example, the bloodstream or internal organs like the kidney, heart, or brain).
Thrush: Oropharyngeal Candidiasis
Thrush is an infection caused by the candida yeast spreading in the mouth and throat. It affects babies, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems the most. Adults who are more likely to get it to include those who:Are undergoing cancer treatment
- Take corticosteroids and antibiotics with a broad spectrum of action.
- Dentures should be worn.
- Tongue, lips, gums, the roof of the mouth, and inner cheeks have white or yellow spots.
- In the tongue and throat, there is redness or pain.
- The corners of the mouth are cracking.
- If the pain goes to the throat, it can be difficult to swallow.
