You may remember that we moved quickly and unexpectedly back in January of this year. Full transparent moment - we, as in my 3 year old and I, had been living with my mom for the past 2 years until my divorce was finalized. We were planning on moving out and buying a home to then move into, but plans changed and we needed to quickly find a place of our own. Sadly my plans to buy a home of our own have been put on hold for now, but they absolutely won't be deferred indefinitely if God says the same. I'm still looking, (and praying!) on that. But since we did move so unexpectedly, I needed to get a lot of stuff for our new apartment, and fast! Enter Amazon, as per usual, to save the day. I was able to get so many things that we needed for our new place, at decent prices, and in 2 days in most cases. If you're moving, or are just interested in cute home decor and home staples (aren't we all at this age lol) keep on reading.
Of course Bash's room was the first to be done. He had a whole decorated room while I was still sleeping on a mattress with no bedroom furniture for weeks lol. The things we do for our kids, right? Luckily I already had a bed stored away that I used in his room, but he needed bedding, storage, basically the whole nine. He loves dinosaurs, so I started off by getting him this dinosaur duvet cover set for his bed. It's so adorable, and I love that it has several other primary colors on it, so that you can accessorize with pretty much any color that you choose as an accent. Sidenote - I prefer duvet covers, since you can easily take them off and throw them in the wash, without having to wash an entire bulky comforter.
To finish off his bed, I got these pillow covers in the navy blue color for his decorative euro sized pillows. For storage, I got this 8 cubby dresser/organizer , and put these hyacinth storage boxes in every other cubby on the shelves. This was such a good storage solution for a lot of his smaller toys - think action figures, animals, cars, etc. I was able to organize the cubbies by category so that all cars go in one, balls in another, actions figures in another, etc.
Of course we needed a lot of kitchen staples, and in a hurry. I found this set of cutting boards (under $20 for 3!) these cooking utensils (24 pieces, plus a holder, for under $35!) and these cute glass refrigerator magnets - I like to use them to put pictures on display on the fridge, and to hold up any important notes that I need to see so that I won't forget.
I also really needed to get a few organizational things, and several other essentials for our apartment. This over the door organizer, and this tiered countertop organizer have literally been a godsend in keeping our small-ish bathroom organized. I use the countertop organizer for all of my skin care products, and use the over the door organizer to store larger things like lotion, hairbrushes, etc., and makeup overflow - i.e. the makeup that doesn't fit in my everyday makeup bag.
The last few essentials that I picked up from Amazon were all bedding related. Starting over from scratch, I had forgotten how much you need just to get a bed together lol. We got these pillows for our bed, and I was pleasantly surprised at how comfy they are - especially for the price. This isn't the most glamorous find, but all my moms with toddlers know that having a mattress protector is ESSENTIAL.
I got these mattress protectors for both of our beds, and they have definitely come in handy so far. I've washed them both several times already, and they are holding up very well. I mentioned earlier how I prefer duvet covers - these are the comforters I have in both of our duvets. I love the quality and they were also super affordable. Last, but not least, is hands down the best white duvet cover for the price. Not only is it super soft, but it spot cleans and washes amazingly well, and at under $25 is a steal and way less expensive than a lot of the white duvets I looked at at other stores. I'm so glad I took a chance on this one. If you're in the market for a classic white duvet cover, check this one out - I don't think you'll be disappointed!
