When President Trump could not avoid the headlines around the world about Covid 19 not been an epidemic but a life-threatening pandemic virus, he responded: We have one case, everything is under control. His message aimed, according to his supporters, to release the fear and concern of the impending threat. The world and many Americans reacted against his attitude and lack of prompt action.
The US has the most substantial potential of becoming the central focus of the virus by acquiring the most significant numbers of contaminated people. Why? Because we are a large population and the international traffic the US sees every day, week, month, and year is a clear picture of what globality is today. Flights from every corner of the world come and go, and people exposed to the asymptomatic diseases could bring the infection, which spreads exponentially. Trump’s reaction was unrealistic, irresponsible, and a direct attack on the people that he supposed to protect.
Today we are the focus of the disease by large numbers. The number of cases around the world is reported to be 6 342 563 and in the US 1 870 023. Roughly around a little less than one-third of the world’s total. We have lost more than 110 000 lives, and the numbers keep growing.
We have witnessed from Trump + Covid another layer of how much he is is out of touch with the American people and the country. At this point, he is losing part of the support that allowed him to commit crime after crime, violating the constitution of the USA. GOP members are reconsidering their position, and many of the military brass is as well. It is time that all together act in a legal fashion that removes abuse from Trump and helps us to recover some trust in the party and our military machine. However, among the comments from top people in both arenas is: they have lacked the courage to represent the country and our constitution. Therefore, he has continued increasing his non-American policies that violate everything the US has stood for more than a century.
Trump’s words were presented under his unrealistic scenario, and some people believed it. The mighty USA would not suffer the flack imposed by Covid, right? I have no idea what the people that believed in him think, but the evidence, as in many other cases, is right in front of our noses.
Considering the nature of this new disease, specialists in the arena claim that it will take several months to clear the threat. That translates into more deaths, loss of jobs and income, and prolonging the crisis and anxiety that the American people are experiencing. From any angle, that is the picture that he presented early this year, but the exact opposite is the reality. If this particular issue is not clear enough for his supporters to grasp the cunning acts of his chosen ruler, not only am I clueless about the future of our country but as well, about the integrity and patriotism of too many citizens. It is clear, the power of the president of the USA is much larger than we can envision ordinarily. It is a mega power strong enough to dissuade even his counterparts of acting against the oath they made when taking office. It is like a vision that we would only see in a fiction movie. Reality is showing us that no one is safe under his ruling. It is more than challenging to understand and accept that up to date, no evidence has sufficed to remove him from office nor to stop him from acting like a kid throwing temper tantrums if he is not appreciated and worship as the person that he believes to be. His mega egotistic demeanor does not fit the picture of the president of the most powerful nation in the world. Two questions arise from this scenario. Will the USA be able to recover from this situation? Not exactly meaning to recover the lost terrain and resources but from the loss of trust that he has generated across the world and at home? The other question is, has the US learned about cunning people that aim to sit in office representing their supporters but to go against the grain of what the US is about? This is the most severe problem the US is facing. It is worse than Covid because if the US does not straighten the direction we were before when that direction was obviously not the correct one, but the need to be addressing what is imperative unless we allow our country to fall through the cracks. Any thinker would immediately state when asked that what has made the US what we were in 2016 is the consistency, dedication, and resilience that characterize the American people. Did we lose that, or what happened? We started to lose ground in 2000 when George W. Bush was chosen as the president by the Electoral College. That regime was the worse in history, but years later, we allowed a much more dubious person to take the lead of our country, and looking around presents the evidence that we have not gained anything, but the losses are massive.
Just a few months ago, the country was in the most excellent shape ever. Something that Trump takes credit for invalidating the situation that Obama faced and his initiative to fix what he inherited. He received the worse scenario the US has seen and left the country in a might good shape. The same that allowed the people around Trump to preserve such status, and we achieved greatness. Not by his grace, though, that happened because that is the path the previous administration left, and many key figures followed. A lot of those gains are lost in an “attempt” to fix what Obama and other administrations fixed. Such as trade with China. We are not by any means, even near to fix that. We are in the worse shape with China, and the fix will not be easy because China now knows that the US is capable of bullying if we do not get what we want, so they bully us instead as they “did” before because they are not going to give to us what we want, just like that. The immigration situation still is as bad and worse. Yes, Trump threw away thousands of illegal immigrants, but that is just a tad of the problem, and the entry of illegals has not been stopped, but the large groups seeking for legal asylum. Asylum that he violated by removing their constitutional rights by, what else, bullying them. The problem is not fixed. Same with the useless wall, he proposed that most likely any section erected by him will wear a grand plate stating that is his. Erected by Donald Trump, 45th US president. Trump is not a politician; therefore, he is unable to handle politics. We are indeed fed up with politicians and politics because of the many issues that are not resolved for a long time. However, a statesman who is a politician will be able to fix that if permitted by the many other politicians we elect (read opponents). Having as our president, a person who is not a politician does not offer the solution we seek. But the elected president is a businessman several times accused by cheating the government, including the IRS. So, his power did not start at the White House, and what we got is a crook that is focused on making business but not for the benefit of the US but himself, family, and pose. We got what we got, and do not deserve. Worse, we have the potential of having another four more years of violations of the constitution, traditions, beliefs, integrity, and patriotism! That would be self-destruction = loads a wealth made for him and beneficiaries. The bottom line now is that we are in the very worst situation the US has faced in history: a destructive pandemic, a growing deficit, weakening economy, most massive unemployment ever, and more. And what put us there that has nothing to do with what his supporters want, but what the US once was, and gradually is losing it year, after year.
Perhaps this coming election will not be the perfect solution, but change towards what we believe and stand for is detrimental if we want to survive. Just like with Covid, if our president would choose to act right away and present to the world that we are the top-notch country in history, our losses would be reduced dramatically. Possibly we could now have the answer for the rest of the world to follow. After all, we are the United States of America, aren’t we? Well, the united part is the first part Donald Trump destroyed.
