Alexander Skarsgard fans will have plenty of opportunities to get their fix of him in the coming months.  We can catch him as Eric Northman in True Blood for another month, his film ‘Straw Dogs’ will hit theaters September 16th and ‘Melancholia’ will be released On Demand a month before the theatrical release.  Plus we still have ‘Battleship’ to look forward to next year.

Magnolia Pictures has announced that Lars von Trier‘s ‘Melancholia’ will be available On Demand October 7, 2011 followed by a limited theatrical release on November 11th.  The On Demand option will be great for fans who are not lucky enough to live in a city that will be playing the movie.  ‘Melancholia’ is about two sisters who find their relationship challenged when another planet threatens to collide with earth, and co-stars Kristin Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland and Alex’s father Stellan Skarsgard.  Skarsgard plays Dunst’s husband in the film.  The film will be showing at the Toronto International Film Festival which runs September 8-18, 2011 and will also be at the New York Film Festival which runs September 30th to October 16, 2011.  Watch the trailer below and be sure to check out ‘Melancholia’ either On Demand or in the theater.
