This post is my Bloggers Social Responsibility an initiative of Blogadda.com ,Akshay Patra and will feed a child for one year.
Its been a tiring month ,preparing for the annual sports meet in school. The last month and a half have been dedicated to physical fitness, exercise and being out in God's fresh air.
Despite the rigorous exercise routines the kids were under going , most of the kids hardly lost any weight. Whatever they lost they our on and some more from the tuck shop on the school premises.
Though the tuck shop only sells healthy foods ,too much of healthy is bad too. We still see chubby kids among those born skinny, and all of them will gather around near the tuck shop to munch on an after tiffin snack...
And what hurts is , just across the railroad crossing outside the school, are a few families whose children carry dirty containers full of water on their heads ,barefoot...
This is so ironical, even worse when the kids show no sensitivity to those who have nothing.
What we fail to realize is that these children have every right to be just as educated as the children across the railroad. They never asked to be born there...
But because they are unfortunate, I think it is iur responsibility to do a little more than read about their miseries in text books.
I believe that we need to sensitize those who are fortunate enough to have it all. I dont believe that any taxation or donations are going to go too far , after all , so much corruption exists around us.
I believe that as teachers , parents, bloggers we must lead by example. We need to encourage children to pitch in .
We must make sure our children have some empathy towards those who are less fortunate.
Schools can initiate social responsibility in children. Today's generation must learn to share. Bring an extra sandwich, a package of biscuits, skimp on some money spent in the tuck shop...
Many moons ago , the government spoke of 'Each one teach one' ,maybe we can make it 'Each one feed one'...
Let us for once not just depend upon the government, let us ensure that we are involved.
Until we teach our children that these hungry children will be the part of the work force wiyh them tomorrow and hunger will only drive them to crime that may affect them too ,we wilk never be able to remove hunger.
Today's child must be grateful and thank God, its them ...
