After Sun -Sunburn Relief with Aloe and Essential Oils

By Irene Shaver @hhwife
So alas the sun has been strong these last few weeks and despite using sunscreen, I got a little more sun than I wanted.  I love being outside in the garden and sometimes get a little carried away.  I don't love sunscreen and do make sure I used one with a very low risk/harm score on the  Environmental Working Group.  This past week I have needed a little "after sun" help for my skin.  This recipe worked well at cooling down my skin, keeping away the redness and helping restore its cells.

Ingredients (makes enough for a 30ml bottle)
  • 2 tablespoons pure aloe vera juice or gel
  • 2 teaspoons fractionated coconut oil
  • 1 (1/8 teaspoon) drop vitamin E oil
  • 2 drop melaleuca essential oil
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil
  • 2 drop roman chamomile or peppermint essential oil

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients together and store in a coloured class container.
  2. Use as needed.
  3. Do ensure that your oils are kept in a dark drawer or closet away from light.
