Consequences of the postponed releases of Wonder Woman 1984 and Dune, Warner announces the new dates of The Batman, The Flash, Matrix 4 and Shazam 2.
The domino effect continues ... After shifting Wonder Woman 1984 (now announced to December 30, 2020) and Dune (shifted to October 1, 2021), Warner Bros. has just announced the date changes of all its blockbusters.
Thus The Batman, led by Robert Pattinson, will no longer be released as planned on September 29, 2021 since Denis Villeneuve's film has taken its place, but on March 4, 2022 in the United States (and most likely March 2 in France). It must be said that the filming of Matt Reeves' feature film was further delayed after Pattinson tested positive for Coronavirus. Filming was able to resume at the end of September, shifting the post-production work on the film accordingly.
Matrix 4 by Lana Wachowski is for its part advanced (at least for the moment) to December 22, 2021 instead of March 30, 2022. The film, which marks the reunion of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss is one of the first blockbusters to hit the plateaus last July.
DC side, The Flash with Ezra Miller is postponed to November 2022, Andy Muschietti's feature film was announced on June 1, 2022. A change that impacts the release of Shazam 2 which was due out on November 2, 2022. The continuation of the youngster's adventures Billy Batson will now be released in June 2023.

The studio has also preferred to remove Black Adam - the spin-off of Shazam worn by Dwayne Johnson - (supposed to be released in December 2021) and the adaptation of the video game Minecraft (previously announced on March 3, 2022) from its schedule. New release dates will be announced later.
These postponements are a drama for movie theaters that rely on blockbusters to attract audiences. In the United States, the Regal cinema chain has also announced its intention to close theaters in America and the United Kingdom.
For now, Wonder Woman 1984 and Soul from Pixar Studios are the only two big productions announced in 2020.
