The first part in the Afro Samurai 2 trilogy will release digitally on PS4 and PC on Tuesday, September 22, before arriving on Xbox One "shortly thereafter", Versus Evil has announced.
The game will be available for $14.99 or in a $34.99 trilogy bundle offering future access to Volumes 2 and 3. PS4 users, meanwhile, are able to grab the bundle at a 20% discount at launch, or 30% if you're a PS Plus member.
UK pricing has yet to be announced.
Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma is described by Versus Evil as a "third-person combat game on steroids", and sees players seeking revenge as Kuma after being defeated by Afro at the end of the original game.
Each volume will have "its own new story arch, characters and combat styles to master," the publisher says, "plus [an] original soundtrack by up and coming indie hip hop artists" mentored by Wu-Tang Clan's RZA.
"A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into getting Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma to this launch," said Versus Evil GM Steve Escalante. "The developer, Redacted Studios, has been dreaming of launching this game, the way you are going to play it and experience it over the course of several volumes. It is a hip-hop opera that folds in a tragic family story with action-packed samurai action and a soundtrack from some amazing indie hip-hop artists.
"We can't wait for the fans to get to experience the next phase in Afro Samurai action."
