Affordable and Fun Fall Activities!

Apple & pumpkin picking.  The best time to apple and pumpkin pick in Autumn is the end of September.  With that being said, now is the perfect time to start budgeting for the occasion.  Each week put aside a little money that you will be bringing with you when you head out to go picking.  This money can be used to make a day out of the trip!  You can visit the local farms and purchase homemade goodies or stop for lunch, depending on the location on the place you will be going to for the apple and pumpkin picking.

Bake an apple or pumpkin pie.  Have the family create a delicious pie together.  Serve apple cider while doing so!

Roast pumpkin seeds.  (Recipe coming soon!)

Host an apple cider stand.  This is such a refreshing take on the lemonade stand!  Have the family host an apple cider stand in front of your house opposed to the classic lemonade stand.

Go leaf picking.  This activity costs nothing, yet makes for the perfect bonding experience with your children.  It is always fun to see which colors and different types of leaves your child attracts to out of the all the leaves there are to choose from.

Collect pine cones.  The pine cones collected would make for a perfect centerpiece when added to a glass bowl, jar, or hurricane!

Create crafts with the leaves you’ve collected!  There are tons of crafts you can do with Autumn leaves and pine cones you have collected.  Traced leaves instructions for this DIY coming very soon, so be sure to check back!

Go for a walk or hike.  Whether around the block or to your local park, bringing your family outside to see the beautiful colors the leaves are changing into is a fun way to help the family appreciate nature. Be sure to bring water with you when you go.

Take a drive.  If walks and hikes are not an option, take a car ride through town to see all the decor outside the local shops as well nature.

Check for local Autumn fun. Check with your town or city by calling or visiting their websites to see if there are any Fall activities coming to your area.  These activities could be anything from corn mazes and hay rides to festivals and haunted houses.

Play a friendly game of football.  No other sport screams Autumn quite like football.  Get a friendly game of football going in your backyard or park.  Invite other family and friends over for larger teams.

Decorate the house with warm colors.  Swap out those bright Summer colors and get the home ready for Autumn with warm colors such has oranges, browns and reds.

Check out a local farmers market.

(Adults Only) Tour a winery.  Find a babysitter and treat yourselves to a nice “date day” out by touring a winery as Fall makes for the best season for wine.
