Early last spring, we did some exploring around Afton State Park along the St. Croix River in Hastings. Why am I sharing about some hiking we did back in March now in October? Because, you might want to put it on your fall or winter to do list. First, a few pictures from our hike.

Are you still wondering why I’m telling you about this place?
Okay, I’ll fill you in…
On your way to the park or after, you can stop by Afton Apple Orchard and pick up your apples and pumpkins. I haven’t personally been here but my sister recently visted and said it was awesome. Plus, who doesn’t like to pick out their own pumpking for carving?! And if you’re feeling really daring you can try to find your way out of the corn maze.
Now remember that last picture from the hike? Once the snow falls, if we actually get some this year, you can hit the slopes at Afton Alps. We may not have the mountains of Colorado but for Minnesota, the runs are pretty decent.
Moral of the story? Just because summer has ended, the leaves have turned now the temps are starting to remind us of what is to come, it doesn’t mean the fun stops and we go into hibernation.
Nope.
It just means a new kind of fun is beginning. After all, we are Minnesotans.
