A time to wait
Last April I wrote a post on here entitled ‘Easter and the second shoe’. It described how my wife had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, with the news breaking just before Easter. Many have visited the post, and the call it issued for defiant hope seems to have struck a chord.
Yesterday, with Christmas just around the corner, we heard that the cancer had returned. As advent reaches its crescendo of hope and anticipation, we have been told that the New Year will bring more surgery and chemotherapy too. As before, this news assumes its perspective in the context of a wider and deeper hope. At Christmas we celebrate that the Lord who came will come again, and that light never eclipses the darkness. If you like to pray, then your prayers would be greatly appreciated.
May peace and hope be with you this Christmas.
