The last time I finished working on this new abstract painting, I liked the basic structure and colors, but felt it needed more definition. It also seemed to need more light, so the first thing I did was to add swaths of parchment with a palette knife. Then I added a transitional color, a soft peach, and darkened some of the bright red with alizarin crimson. Finally, I drew sketchy lines in black for more definition and texture.
I'm not sure I like this version of the painting better than the first one.
