ADB Ready to Provide Additional Support to Revive SL SME Sector – Kadano

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) says that it appreciates Sri Lanka’s interest in reviving small and medium scale enterprises, which has emerged from the economic crisis.

Sri Lanka Country Director ADB, Takafumi Kadano, who met Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe said that they are ready to provide additional support towards reviving this segment.

He also emphasized that the Asian Development Bank is eager to further study the field of small and medium enterprises in Sri Lanka.

Appreciating the sacrifices made for Sri Lanka’s rise by avoiding the crisis, the Director said that every crisis creates new opportunities.

He also mentioned that there is a possibility of moving towards a long-term sustainable economy.

He said that the support that can be provided for Sri Lanka will be continued, especially in conjunction with the program of the International Monetary Fund. Commenting further, he said that the ADB would support many projects in Sri Lanka in the future, mainly in the power sector.

State Minister Semasinghe pointed out that the small and medium business sector can be identified as the most affected group in the crisis, Semasinghe said that it is also the sector that needs to be restored as soon as possible.

The State Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Asian Development Bank for their support during the crisis as well as during the recovery.
