Acer Iconia B1-A71 Tablet is out for sale in Sabah
While flipping through a local newspaper this morning, I came across an advert from Acer Sales and Service Malaysia. The ad was actually revealed Acer’s latest entry into the budget tablet market – The Iconia B1-A71 (7-inch Essential Series Tablet) is priced at only RM399 (US$130). The device was introduced last January and now available for sale all over Malaysia.
Under the hood, the tablet reveals a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and powered by Android v4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It has 512MB of RAM and 8/16 GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD up to 32GB. The 7.0-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display (256K colours) produces a resolution of 600 x 1024 pixels (~170 ppi pixel density) and is equipped with a non-removable Li-Po 2710 mAh battery. The main camera is a basic VGA standard offering 640×480 pixels with video shooting capability. Sadly, there is no secondary camera.
The Iconia B1 measures at 1197.4 x 128.5 x 11.3 mm (7.77 x 5.06 x 0.44 in) at weigh at 320 g (11.29 oz). Overall this is a basic entry-level Android tablet which I am sure is affordable to most users. The main highlights of the device are as follow:
- Light weight (320g)
- Slim Design
- 1.2GHz Dual Core Processor
- High-Resolution Display (1024X600)
- Wide Angle Viewing (70 degrees)
- MicroSD slot
- Andoird Jelly Bean 4.1
- Built in 8GB storage
- WiFi Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 and microUSB v2.0 connectivity
- 1-year International Traveler’s Warranty
Cons:
- No GPRS, EDGE, 2G or 3G connectivity
