Accent Clothing Expands in the Face of the Failing High Street

Accent Clothing, a family run fashion independent retailer based in Leeds city center recently completed the first stage of the expansion of their business despite the doom and gloom on the high street.

Tucked away in Queens Arcade, Accent Clothing has provided quality designer clothing for men, women and kids, for over 29 years, but never has each of the separate departments been under one roof until now. The relocation of the women’s department from across the arcade to the first floor of the menswear store has created a one stop shopping destination for the whole family. The retail space has increased considerably and the new design contributes to an enhanced shopping experience over two floors; ‘We wanted to create a premium shopping space which maintained the character and friendly personality unique to Accent.’ Said co-owner Louise Schneider

Accent Clothing is certainly bucking the recession, and going against the trend with many well-known names such as Coggles, Ark and Republic having gone into administration this year. ‘Our business is going from strength to strength, despite money being tight, and with all the talk of the failing high street it just shows you even a small independent like ours can take on the big names’ said founder and co-owner, Martin Schneider.

Louise, sparked the growth whilst on the Goldman Sach’s 10,000 Small Businesses programme, ‘The programme has provided us with the tools to help propel our business forward and since graduating from the course earlier this year we have made significant changes to the business as a whole’.

The growth continues with new offices and a photographic studio, being constructed in newly accessible premises above Queens Arcade not used for 86 years. This will further develop Accent Clothing creating more jobs and opportunities for the online side of the business.

Accent Clothing will be hosting The Grand Opening event to launch the opening of the new women’s department on the 21st of November from 7pm. The night will involve a fashion show, showcasing the new Autumn/Winter collection, a performance from local singer Bianca Gerald, a charity raffle with some amazing prizes in which all the proceedings will be donated to the Bethany’s Smile charity, a prize draw, plus much more. Places are limited so if you would like to attend the event please RSVP to [email protected] before Friday 15th of November.
