So I finally read the infamous book by Machiavelli and now I can understand when movies refer to him.
… I have to say that it is a good read. There aren’t many pages, so it’s not difficult to read at all. As well the information that is provided in the book is very valuable.
I understand that many have considered the book as a source of evil or encouragement of evil deeds; however, I have to disagree. I believe that the book tells you how to retain and keep power. It tells readers how to be a leader and how to stay in control.
Though the book was written many years ago, it is still relevant. The information that is provided can be used for managing a business, running an organization, a country or in regular relationships.
From reading the book, one can learn more about how to conduct themselves, so as to be respected by the people around them.
The teachings advice upon many subjects including, gaining advice from people and surrounding yourself with people who are intelligent and beneficial. He noted that a person is judged based on the people they surround themselves with.
I don’t want to spoil the book because there are so many little suggestions that are so significant, so I highly recommend that everyone should read it.
It reminds me of a modern self-help book –even though I have never read one. But obviously when you read the book you are going to heed the advice carefully. I hope you don’t read the book and decide to kill someone and blame it on Machiavelli. All the advice is invaluable –yes but you have to determine which would be applicable for your life and for certain situations.
I feel that after reading the book, even though I may not be able to imitate the actions of past greats, like suggested by Machiavelli, I will at least have the smell of it.
Read the book and it’s a 5 out of 5 for me, but tell me what you think. Don’t be stingy with your thoughts!
