You’ve heard us say it before, but the community is what makes Bored Ape Yacht Club what it is today.
One of the most creative species on the web3 are apes. We never would have believed that in such a short period of time, we would see Ape TV series, clothes, themed restaurants, food trucks, drinks, hot sauce, jewelry, music videos, and more.
It’s crucial to remember what makes BAYC unique – the people and the supportive energy — as Yuga expands, community projects soar to new heights, and Apes continue to appear in popular culture.
We’ve put together a new community council made up of Apes with a track record of actively and positively participating to the club from the beginning to assist the community flourish. This council was established with the goal of speaking for the club as a whole and giving members a voice.
This council will probably expand in the future, but for now we’re thrilled to introduce these 7 exceptional apes:
Josh Ong
Josh is a partner at Bored Room Ventures, a Web3 marketing firm and fund, and he serves as a consultant for Fragment/A.P.E., Jenkins The Valet, and NonFungible Films. For the first unofficial IRL BAYC meetups, he was awarded a Community Grant. He has also assisted in the organization of events in LA and New York, such as the Apefest 2021 Yacht Party. He’s looking forward to connecting with the Twitter community for apes as a council member and hearing their opinions.
Sera
Sera is a talented artist who has collaborated with community members to help bring their intellectual property to life through the Bored Salon and JBF derivatives. She joined the Yacht Club early on and has since promoted the usage of creative intellectual property (IP) through a number of BAYC subcommunities.
Laura Rod
The Miami Ape, a web3 business with an emphasis on community development and guidance, was founded by Laura. She conducts social media workshops and interviews in English and Spanish via Twitter spaces in order to inform, uplift, and empower underrepresented communities in web3. Her motivations are the community, social effect, limitless opportunities being generated, and the ability to use blockchain technology to positively affect other people’s lives.
OxEthan
When OxEthan joined the Decentral Games team in March 2021 as a community manager, his web3 journey officially began. He is accustomed to being mindful of and respectful of the opinions and sentiments of a community. He was just employed by Metaverse News as the Head of Growth, and he also produces a daily Web3 newsletter for our readers. Ethan has a strong sense of community involvement, and as a council member, he will always take everyone’s opinions into consideration.
OxWave
One of the first companies to use BAYC was OxWave, which helped the project’s creators launch Discord and get the project off the ground. Wave is a crypto pioneer and a technological mastermind. His attempts to acclimate people who were new to NFTs and cryptocurrency laid the groundwork for the community that exists today.
Negi
Negi is a Hong Kong ape who resides in Japan right now. supporter of bizarre eyes. converted orange enthusiast. Aspiring photographer who is constantly attempting to slip a photo or 10 onto the walls of the BAYC Clubhouse. Their first NFT was BAYC, which provided access to the lovely world of web3. Negi aspires to represent Asian Apes and accept the diverse cultural backgrounds that make up the group.
Peter fang
With money from the initial batch of BAYC funding, Peter assisted in holding one of the first BAYC meet-ups in Venice, California in July 2021. He has extensive knowledge of organizing and carrying out IRL community activities. He has continued to personally support the development of the BAYC brand & community through cooperation, the implementation of IRL events, and innovative IP usage, in addition to adding value by fostering connections and upholding/supporting BAYC community members.
How it works
To us, the community council plays a crucial role in assisting Yuga Labs in determining the direction of BAYC. To that goal, the council will initially concentrate on the following:
Reaction: Council members were picked in part due to their track records as proactive members of the BAYC community. They are frequently seen about the neighborhood, interacting with neighbors, going to gatherings, and more. They now have a venue through this council to speak with us directly about community concerns.
Giving back: The council will collaborate with Yuga and the BAYC/MAYC neighborhood to promote community-driven projects, get-togethers, charitable donations, and other community-led concepts.
The BAYC/MAYC community is autonomous, and this council embodies that. They will bring their diverse skill sets and ideas to the table, and we will collaborate with them to make the best ideas a reality.
Since the very beginning, every Ape in our community has had a direct bearing on our choices. This council, along with upcoming councils, establishes a more formal, effective, and regular procedure for Yuga leadership to regularly solicit feedback and counsel from the community.

We are also investigating the changing requirements of the CryptoPunks, Meebits, and Otherside Yuga NFT groups. Wait for additional information about that.
