Thoughts on Archive
Thoughts – Archive is a sci-fi thriller that will look to dive into the mystery of what it is like to have memories placed into an archive, in hopes of extending memories with loved ones once they are gone. This is a smart story that will give the warnings of what it is like to push AI in a direction it isn’t ready for, showing the consequences of the action used to try and make more of something that has a been lost, all while leading up to a conclusion that will leave you shocked and surprised with the outcome. This is a thinking sci-fi movie that will see George needing to face people coming from all directions that are searching for the truth from him, as he looks to figure out a way to do the only thing he knows how to move on with his life, to see the next stage of the battle to grieve. These strong themes of loss, grief and fitting in, will become the backbone of the story we see unfold. When it comes to the performances Theo James brings the high standards carrying the film with his on-edge character, while his calming nature with the AI helps build the relationship with them. The strong supporting cast add the characters who will leave George question everything that is going on around him.
Final Thoughts – Archive is an interesting sci-fi, offering up plenty of moral questions and a twist you won’t see coming.
