Story: Spell starts when lawyer Marquis T Woods (Hardwick) learns his estranged father has passed away, with his family Veora (Burroughs), Samsara (Gonera) and Tydon (Burton) heading back to his hometown to pay their final respects.

The journey takes a turn for the worse, when the plane he is piloting crashes in a storm and Marquis wakes up in the attic of a hoodoo practitioner Eloise (Devine) who is holding him hostage, as he desperately looks to escape.

Thoughts on Spell

ThoughtsSpell is a horror thriller that will see a father needing to fight back against a hoodoo practitioner and her followers, who have captured his family and are looking to use them to grant them more life. This is a horror that is built up with the potential that marquis might have something else wrong with him going into everything that happens, be it his nightmare filled memories of his father, or the stricter behavior he has towards his son. Once he is captured, it slowly becomes clear what he will need to do to escape, which is more about keeping a few things back about what he has been planning for his escape. The performances in the film are strong with Omari Hardwick in the leading role, while Loretta Devine gives us the unsettling performance in the supporting role.

Final Thoughts Spell is a horror filled with tension and scheming to escape the horrors.
