Thoughts on Close Range

Characters & Performances – Colton MacReady is the former soldier turned drifter, he has returned to his family ranch to save his niece. If you get into a fight with him, he will beat you, he is a relentless fighter, never giving up on fighting for his family, be it hand to hand combat or weapons training, this soldier has everything to defeat enemies. Scott Adkins is the star of the show here, giving us a performance, which will see him showing off his combat skills. Angela and Hailey are the sister and niece who are mostly here to be the people that Colton needs to save, taking on the dialog through the film. Fernando Garcia is the leader of the cartel that has put together the group of cartel members to hunt down Colton, he doesn’t hold back on who he kills, if he feels betrayed or no longer needs that person. The support characters really do fill the generic you would expect to see in an action film, without having that moment to make them stand out.

StoryThe story here follows a former soldier that is trying to protect his family from a deadly cartel who want blood, he must face off against countless enemies to protect them. When it comes to the story, this is run of mill, one man against an endless supply of enemies, each one becoming more difficult as they close in on him, but he will always find a way to defeat them. By keeping everything simple it flows easily with the real-time feel and gives the spotlight to Colton.

ThemesClose Range is a pure action film that will give Scot Adkins a chance to show off his combat skills, with the western vibe about the use of music and location on the quiet ranch.

Close Range is an all-out action movie that never holds back on the combat we see unfold.
