The Abyssinians were formed in 1968, and were known for their close harmonies and dedication to Rastafarian beliefs. The Jamaican group consisted of Bernard Collins, Donald Manning and Lynford Manning, and were very popular throughout the 1970s. Collins left in 1978, and was replaced by Carlton Manning, before the group split in 1979. The original line-up reunited in 1998 and went on to record new material, including the album 'Reunion'. According to the line-up of their most recent shows, The Abyssinians are currently made up of Collins, Donald Manning and David Morrison.
'Declaration Of Rights' can be found on the band's 1976 debut album 'Satta Massagana'. The song was re-recorded by Johnny Clarke, and was remixed by King Tubby.
