A Wonderful Small Wedding in Buxton

By Claire

Even more special is the wedding I have to share with you today. Mark and Jag chose to have an intimate celebration of their love with their closest family and friends. As today’s beautiful bride Jag says, this is…

“A wonderful, small wedding full of memories shared with people who meant the most to the bride and groom (parents, grandparents, siblings, best mates and that’s it). I wouldn’t have changed anything.”

It really is perfect. I must say a huge thank you to the lovely Lucy from Lucy West Images for sharing her photographs of Jag and Mark’s wedding in Buxton. It’s all about the love — a very special wedding day I’ve been looking forward to showing you!

An intimate wedding in Buxton — Mark and Jag

Jag wore an ivory Indian style dress, brought at a bridal boutique — the Phulkari Boutique based in Foleshill Road in Coventry. The style of dress was ideal for the wedding, which was a celebration of cultures. Jag dressed in traditional Indian bridal attire and Mark in a real English gentleman’s suit from Slater’s Menswear, based in Manchester City Centre.

Jag’s bridal jewellery, shoes and accessories were all brought at various Indian boutique shops based in Southall, London.

We had a wonderful small wedding full of memories shared with people who meant the most to the bride and groom (parents, grandparents, siblings, best mates and that’s it). I wouldn’t have changed anything about my wedding. It was simply perfect such as the choice of venue, entertainment, food, atmosphere, choice of suppliers, list is endless.

What I felt made my wedding special was adding the personal touches, which everyone had noticed for all the hard work and details. What was lovely and refreshing was to hear the guests had a fun and yet relaxing time at our wedding.

My sister is a hard person to impress but she paid me the best compliment by saying that all weddings should follow similar suit to mine, spending quality time and fun with those you love the most. I would have invited more if I could but I wanted to keep the wedding intimate.

It was an amazing day, I wish I could relive it. However, thanks to Lucy West (my photographer) the images she took in the natural style I love help me to relive the memories and emotions.

A special wedding day memory

Having a decent caricaturist (www.magicalmemories.co.uk) do drawings of the bride, groom and guests was just a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend it for small weddings. It brought the family together and everyone had a good giggle. What was lovely was that every guest could take away a drawing as a memento of our special day : )

Wedding advice from Jag

Organising all day entertainment for a small party is actually not as easy as you might think. You can’t get away with a disco for less than 20 people, it just wouldn’t feel right as it’s all about the atmosphere.

So with careful planning and how you envision the day to flow will help point out what you would like to experience at a small wedding. Thankfully all my guests agreed with my style and choice of entertainment.

To summarise my wedding = Good family wedding fun!

Recommended wedding suppliers: Jag and Mark

Luckily all my suppliers were fantastic!

  • The Old Hall Hotel Buxton- For holding a small wedding within the North West, I can’t recommend enough this venue! I searched many venues and Old Hall was fabulous in so many ways:
    • The setting, the wonderful park opposite the hotel. (The Pavilion Gardens in Buxton — your blog Editor used to go on the little train ride in there with her Grandma, and feed the ducks!)
    • The amazing food and wide range of food options on wedding menu.
    • The amazing staff answering my tireless questions with a cheerful manner.
    • In simple words – Played a huge part in my wedding.
  • Lucy West Photography – She’s a great photographer, easy-going and her images captured the moment. I have SO many amazing pictures of my wedding, I can’t pick a favourite! She’s worth every penny as I can relive my memories in the way I envisioned and it’s thanks to her and her team.
  • www.magicalmemories.co.uk is an agent for artists which were able to assist and provide me with a good caricaturist at a reasonable price. Having the artist at our day was definitely memorable.
  • www.pierfuncasinos.co.uk Karen & Peter from Pier Fun Casino provided a classy Roulette table at a reasonable price. They also supplied personalised chips & money featuring Bride & Groom, which is a nice memento.
  • www.alice-rose.co.uk best wedding cake ever! Cake was designed to follow the theme of my wedding (roses). Again reasonably priced. Would highly recommend people take a sneak peek at her shop based on the high street in Glossop near the Peak District. (facebook: Alice Rose Cakes)
  • www.greenpavilion.co.uk Managed my amazing floral set-up and bouquet. I was very particular in the size and style of my flowers and bouquet. Clare (shop owner and her team) based in Buxton didn’t let me down. What’s fantastic is that the florist is based only yards away from the Old Hall Hotel, which was reassuring in getting the flowers over quick and retaining their quality. Highly recommend this florist
