This weekend has been wet. It's ben horrible and wet. However, instead of it being horrible and wet when I was bored at home, my lovely boyfriend and I spent a wet weekend in Liverpool. Both of us had spontaneously decided to have a weekend away to spend some well needed time together. We both lead such hectic lives its often hard to find time just to be with each other. So we left the midlands on Friday evening, setting out for the delights of Liverpool. We got into Liverpool Lime Street station, found our hotel and checked in at the Radisson Blu Liverpool. A beautiful Hotel set only a short walk away from the main town center (and the fabulous shopping heaven that is Liverpool One).
That evening we decided to head out for food, but venture to find some music to listen to. Liverpool is known for its live music scene, and me being the music lover I am I really wanted to embrace it. For that evening I took a bit of a fashion risk (looking back). I'd set out to wear a dress but it was chucking it down, so I went for a pair of jeans and my only nice top. I'm not sure this worked, but to be honest I was tired and quite hungry!
The top is a beautiful silky material and is now in the sale at Topshop. It was a nice top to slip on for a casual night out.
So after a night of eating, drinking and singing a long to a tribute band in the Cavern pub... I must admit I felt mildly hungover. Whoops! Apparently I got swept into the fact I was away for the weekend and let my hair down maybe a little too much. The next day I thoroughly enjoyed the fact we mainly were going to be shopping, and after some retail therapy I felt much more human. After the shopping had finished my boyfriend and I decided it'd be a wise idea to go site seeing. We always say whenever we visit anywhere we never do all the tourist bits, so we embraced those parts of Liverpool - starting with anything Beatles related.
We started by visiting Eleanor Rigby, which caused me to have the song stuck in my head all the way until we met Paul McCartney near to the Cavern Club!
The icon Cavern Club was amazing, in fact the entire place in the Liverpool center was interesting with plenty to see and do.
From 3pm onwards my boyfriend and I went to watch the Everton Vs. Fulham match. Being that I've only ever seen Leicester City play, we felt it was about time I saw a big football game. It was amazing, Everton won 4 -0 so the whole crowd persona was on a complete high! What an end to a fabulous day.
Well the football match wasn't the end, an evening meal out was the end. I decided to go for my ProdigyRed Antoinette Spot Peplum dress. It would look even better if I had a tan, this is going to be my holiday companion!
Sunday came and so did the showers! It has rained non stop, I got so wet that we had to change clothes after museum visits before our journey home. We went to visit the Tate Liverool and also the Maritime museum, and the beautiful Albert Docks.
It has been a lovely weekend visiting a different City. If you haven't been to Liverpool before I really recommend going. There is plenty to see, do and the people there are so friendly.
Before we left back to the equally wet East Midlands we stopped off at Starbucks for a well needed coffee, panini and naughty piece of carrot cake :o) It was totally worth it!
