A week in the life of Monica is back! In November I updated on how my week went. Just kind of a way to show what it’s like in my house with 4 kids and multiple different schedules at play. It’s definitely not glamorous, but it’s my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. So here’s what my week looked like.
Saturday February 1
We took the two little ones to BJs to get our monthly shopping done while the two big ones stayed home. We came home, put the groceries away, had lunch, and went to Walmart. We also had to stop at the grocery store to get a few things we couldn’t get at BJ’s. Then it was home. I had to work. My husband cooked dinner and also made some Chili. After I finished working I started baking my daughter’s birthday cake.
Sunday February 2
My youngest daughter’s 3rd birthday! I had to work in the morning. I got up before I started working to work on my daughter’s cake. I didn’t get to finish it before I had to work though. My husband took the 3 older kids out to get a few last minute birthday things and I worked while the Birthday Girl watched her favorite program, Doc McStuffins. Once I finished working I finished that monkey cake for my daughter and then we went bowling. Came home and I cooked dinner. Then we did cake and presents. The day went by so fast, I still can’t believe she’s 3.
Monday February 3
Back to school, or so I thought. I got up at 5 like usual during the week, got all dressed, and went to check emails and Facebook when I discovered that school was closed. We were supposed to get some snow starting in the morning, not a lot, but it hadn’t started yet. The timing of it was just pretty bad so they canceled school. I sent my middle daughter back to bed and told her to tell her sister no school. I ended up staying up a little before dozing on the couch. Before I knew it, it was 8:30 and my youngest had a physical scheduled for 9:45. So I got her up and ready to go, it was just starting to snow. We went to the doctor and she had a great physical. She’s a peanut, but she’s growing along her curve. We left the doctor’s office just after 11 and headed to Lowes to get a new light fixture for one of the apartments we manage and I needed a new dryer belt because my dryer broke in the middle of drying the day before. Came home and had lunch and just hung around the house the rest of the day. I worked at night, but that was about it.
Tuesday February 4
Now it was back to school. A regular day, no delay or anything. Something I was a little bummed about because that meant I had to bring my youngest to school. So brought my middle daughter to the bus stop just before 6, came home, did my workout, got the rest of the house up. Brought my oldest to school, husband to work, and came home to feed the two little ones. Got my son on his bus and then got my youngest ready for her 2nd day of school. Dropped her off, had a tearful goodbye, and came back home to write. An hour later it was time to head back out to pick my daughter up from school. Got her and spoke to her teacher who said she only cried for half the class this time and actually did some work. Woohoo, baby steps! We came home, curled up on the couch together, and she fell asleep. My son’s bus dropped him off. After lunch and hanging out at the house for a while I had to go get my middle daughter and then pick my husband up from work. We came home and I was working on some things when I realized I completely forgot to get my daughter diapers with all that running around and we were getting snow again so we wouldn’t be able to do it the next day. We also needed some rock salt so we went to Walmart, ate dinner out, and got these few things and came home. School was canceled for the next day for everyone, we chatted with our new neighbor who’s in the process of moving in, and then watched TV.
Wednesday February 5
We got to sleep in. Woke up to snow. Our day was mostly spent indoors. I had some work to do during the day and my husband brought the kids outside to play in the snow while I worked, but when it started to sleet he had to bring them in. So we watched some TV and played some games. I cooked dinner and then had to work. My husband got the kids to bed. Once I finished working we went to bed.
Thursday February 6
Had to get up at my normal 5 a.m. Checked the news to see if they canceled school. They had a delay. Told my middle daughter to go back to bed and I went back to bed too. Got up nearly 2 hours later to get my husband to work and middle daughter to her bus stop. Came home and got the teenager up to get her ready for school. The two little ones had no school because of the delay. Got them breakfast, brought my oldest daughter to school and came home with the little ones. Tried to do some more writing, but it wasn’t working with the little ones. Did some art with them. Went to pick my husband up at work and then my middle daughter from her bus stop. My oldest daughter stayed after school and then walked to McDonald’s with her friends to hang out for a little while so I went to pick her up from there. We came home did the homework dance and cooked dinner. After dinner and the little ones went to bed and the older two finished their chores we played a few rounds of Scattagories before my middle daughter had to go to bed. We watched some TV with my oldest and then she went to bed and shortly after my husband and I went to bed.
Friday February 7
And back to the 5 a.m. wake up. School as usual. Brought my daughter to her bus stop, came home, worked out. Had to get my oldest up to get her to school. Came home to wake up my son. Gave him breakfast and my husband put him on the bus and then went to install the light we had purchased for the apartment we manage. I got my youngest dressed and picked up around the house. My son came home from school and had lunch. Shortly after 2 my oldest was asking for a ride. I went to get her and brought her home. Brought my husband to work, did some grocery shopping, and went to get my middle daughter from her bus stop. I was early. Waited for her and then went home where I had a bunch of work waiting for me in my inbox. Dealt with all of that and then started making meatballs for dinner. My middle daughter was going to a friend’s house for a sleepover. Luckily it was just around the corner and my oldest daughter walked her there. The four of us had dinner and then I had to work. My husband thankfully got a ride home from work. He put the little ones to bed for me. We stayed up way too late probably, but it was a busy night of work for me and I was too jacked up to go to bed. Glad it was the weekend though.
And that was my week. How was your week?
