A Visit to See's Candies

See's Candies

About a week and a half ago I got to go to a Blogger Event at the new See’s Candies store in PennSquare Mall in Oklahoma city, OK. Minivan Momma invited me. She invited Kalamity Kelli, too.
There were lots of bloggers from the metro OKC area there. It was nice to meet up with other bloggers. Some of us exchanged business cards and I realized at I need to make new blogger business cards. I’ve changed a lot since I had those made.

I’d never been to a See’s before. I’m not usually a big fan of candy. I’m very picky about what kind of candy I like. I don’t care for chocolate chips or any kind of solid chocolate. I only like specific types of filling in my chocolate. A variety box of candy is wasted on me. I usually only eat the ones with caramel or nougat on the inside. But I like See’s. I didn’t care for everything I tasted, but I certainly found some candies that I will have to go back and get some more of. I think I liked it because they do not use preservatives. I’m not one of those crazy people that gets upset about preservatives. But I can often taste preservatives in products and it will turn me off of something. That also means that the candy does not have a long shelf life. I don’t think that will be a problem at our house. My husband loves candy.

See's Candy Case

The candy case is so pretty and organized. Did you know that when you visit See’s you can choose a piece of candy from the candy case to sample for free? For Free! You can try something new on each visit or sample your favorite.

Scotch Kiss

My absolute favorite candy that I tried that evening is called the Scotch Kiss. It’s a honey marshmallow dipped in caramel. Yep, not chocolate but so wonderful. I could sit down with a pile of these and be completely happy. At the blogger event we were encouraged to try all sorts of candy. There were other lovely bits that I tried but I kept going back to the Scotch Kisses.

Kalamity Kelli and I Behind the Counter

We had a box filling contest behind the counter. It's hard to look good in a hairnet. I didn’t win but I still got to take home the box of candy that I filled. We all did so we were all winners. There's a trick to quickly filling candy boxes.

I did better at the trivia contest and I won a free copy of a book called See’s Famous Old Time Candies by Margaret Moos.

At the end of the event each guest was sent home with a tote bag of See’s boxed candy. Of course this event was held in the hopes that the bloggers would go home and write about the store and products. The candy was given out so that we would be able to write from experience. But listen, I wouldn’t say I liked something if I didn’t.

So if you have a See’s Candies near you plan a visit. If nothing else you can try a free piece of candy. Seriously, try the the Scotch Kiss. Love it!
