A Triathlon is a Multiple-stage Competition

By Therealsupermum @TheRealSupermum

My uncle has become obsessed with triathlons and while I do not quite understand why I am hugely proud of him.

A triathlon is a multiple-stage competition involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines. While many variations of the sport exist, triathlon, in its most popular form, involves swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances.

Triathletes compete for fastest overall course completion time, including timed “transitions” between the individual swim, cycle, and run components.

The word “triathlon” is of Greek origin from τρεις or treis (three) and αθλος or athlos (contest).

He told me that triathlon bikes are perfect for training as they are designed to help him and actually make cycling a lot easier.

He came 13th place in the last competition he entered and I am very proud of him.

My aunt actually goes out running with him, to help him train.

I was worried that in this freezing cold weather he would be frozen riding around but he assures me that with thanks to the fitness clothing from Eureka Cycle Sports he is as warm as toast. He explains it’s made especially for this very thing and he is rather comfy.

Of course I am no newbie to fitness, I myself go the gym regularly and my brother works in a huge fitness gym out in Sydney.

After taking a look online it seems that many are doing the very same thing. I can’t say I am wanting to follow in my uncles footsteps but I can clearly see why taking part becomes addictive somewhat. The sheer dedication and determination you out in when training, is paid off once you cross that finishing line.

It’s a huge achievement.

My brother often takes part in fitness coursers and even iron man contests and I love to see the pictures afterwards.

I just hope those out there training at this time of year use and wear the correct items of clothing.
