A Three Hour Tour // Shabby Apple

By Gentrilee

Gilligan's Island has always been one of my favorite tv shows. I don't know what it is, I guess I loved the idea of being stuck on an island with such interesting people, with no real world responsibilities (I'm lazy like that). I loved their ingenuity, their adorable inventions that made their island life so desirable; I only wished that they could see it themselves. The one thing about the show, that I could never understand, was why Ginger and Mr. and Mrs. Howell had all gone on a boat tour in their best clothes. Of course, now I understand the character exaggerations that needed to be made for the storyline. But, I also understand that if I were taking a yacht tour, I would want to look my best, as well.
That is where this look comes in. This is my "evening on a yacht" look. Since I will only be surrounded by beautiful boats (which I have never been on, mind you) for so much longer, I needed to take advantage of the photo opportunities. I love driving by, especially at night when they are all lit up, and admiring the boats in the harbors. One of my favorite things to do here is to take a picnic to the beach and watch the boats come in and out. Now, if only I could find a way to be invited to a nice dinner on one of them...
Back to the dress- This dress is from Shabby Apple and it makes me feel more like a woman than almost anything in my closet. The shape is classic, the color dreamy, and the side ruching helps to slim any shape. While my day to day style has started to lean more towards my tom-boy side, my "Sunday style" (because lets be honest, it's the only day I dress up) has started to lean more towards a classic and feminine look. There's nothing like a vintage silhouette to make any girl feel the most feminine. If I were to be taking a "3 hour tour" with a couple of millionaires, this is definitely the dress I would be wearing... and then unfortunately, stranded on an island in.

dress- c/o shabby apple
clutch- anthropologie
shoes- nordstrom
necklace- c/o the land of salt
What kind of silhouettes do you like to wear for evenings out? Anyone else out there a big Gilligan's Island fan?
