A Review of Greenbar Distillery Orange Bitters+Soda and Coastal Rum+Cola

By Boozedancing @boozedancing

We enjoy well crafted cocktails as much as the next booze lover, but let's face it, they're not always portable, so outings to the beach, pool, or any other public place that allows you to bring your own adult beverages are usually limited to canned beer, canned hard seltzer, or boxed wine, because anything that comes in a glass container is usually prohibited. But let's face it, do you really want to schlep ice, mixers, shakers, muddlers, bottles of booze, and everything else needed to properly craft a classy libation when you head out for a short outing with friends? Nope. Neither do we. For these trips, a mini cooler and your favorite canned beverage is all you need.

On today's episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we sample two brand spanking new canned beverages from Downtown LA's Greenbar Distillery. One is a canned cocktail, the other is a non-alcoholic beverage made with bitters and club soda. Here is a bit of information about the two Greenbar Distillery canned concoctions that we'll be reviewing today:

Greenbar Distillery, Los Angeles' first distillery since Prohibition and maker of the world's largest portfolio of organic spirits, is pleased to announce the launch of two new lines of canned craft cocktails aimed to bring complex, on-the-go drinks to a wider audience. The line includes three highballs and two non-alcoholic bitters & sodas. The new cocktails come in 12 oz 4-packs with SRPs of $14.99 for the highballs and $9.99 for the non-alcoholic bitters & sodas and include:Single Malt Whiskey+Soda: A meticulously balanced highball made with Greenbar's three-year-old single malt whiskey, a touch of ginger liqueur and apple bitters. Canned at 7% alcohol by volume.Coastal Rum+Cola: A dry, spicy take on the tropical favorite made with Greenbar's silver and spiced rums and house-made cola. Canned at 7% alcohol by volume.City Gin+Tonic: A G&T based on LA's vibrant food scene - bold and spicy - made with Greenbar's Bright gin and house-made tonic. Canned at 8% alcohol by volume.Lavender Bitters+Soda: Made with Greenbar's lavender bitters and lush rooibos tea, this bitters & soda drinks like a stroll through a spring garden. Non alcoholic.Orange Bitters+Soda: Made with Greenbar's orange bitters and smoked tea, this bitters & soda bursts with zest & vigor. Non alcoholic."

Greenbar Distillery was kind enough to send us two cans each of their Orange Bitters+Soda and Coastal Rum+Cola, and we were kind enough to review them while still following all of the COVID19 protocols, i.e. samples were shared using our undisclosed dead drop, and the review was done via Skype in order to stay properly socially distanced.
